ITGA Annual General Meeting 2024
The International Tobacco Growers Association (ITGA) 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) attracted the widest global tobacco sector representation in the birthplace of flue-cured “bright leaf” – Raleigh, North Carolina. Hosted by the Tobacco Growers Association of North Carolina (TGANC), the meeting included a dynamic program concentrating on the practical side of tobacco farming in the US.

José Javier Aranda, ITGA President, made a tour in tobacco growing countries in Africa, meeting growers’ associations and stakeholders to convey his commitment to the region: “Sustainability starts by securing viability to growers. Without it, the very pillar of the sector is at risk.”

The International Tobacco Growers’ Association 2023 Americas Regional Meeting in Salta, Argentina
Tobacco growers’ representatives from five countries – Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic and USA gathered in Salta, Argentina for the International Tobacco Growers’ Association (ITGA) 2023 Americas Meeting. The event was attended by regional and international stakeholders and focused on the pressing challenges facing the sector. During the event, participants have flagged the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) tenth Conference of the Parties (COP), taking place in Panama later this year, as a major concern.

The International Tobacco Growers’ Association 2022 Africa Regional Meeting gathers representatives from multiple tobacco growing countries in Lusaka, Zambia
African member organizations of the International Tobacco Growers’ Association insist on the need for communication between all tobacco stakeholders, both locally and internationally, to address the growing number of issues impacting the sector. Special attention must be paid to the skyrocketing costs of production and the corresponding prices offered for tobacco, the impact of climate change and the continuing hostility of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control against the sector.
